edTPA Dec. 8th alert and upcoming seminars

For those of you planning to meet the December 8th deadline for turning in your edTPA, please note that the edTPA website will be down on December 8th from 7:30 AM until 12:00 PM Eastern Time. Be sure to get your test submitted prior to this time.

Upcoming Seminars/ Dates

  1. We will have seminar at UW tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7th
  2. You will have seminar at Whitehorse on Wednesday, December 14th
  3. In January you will not have any seminars. We will be sending out sign up sheets for your final individual meeting with us in January.
  4. After school on Friday, January 20th from around 4:00-6:00 pm we are planning a last get together/ celebration. More details to come later. Please mark the date on your calendar.

If you have not already asked your CT for a letter of recommendation, now would be a good time to ask. This way they will have until the last week of January to write that letter.

See you all tomorrow!

edTPA Submission Date

I have received quite a few questions about the November 24th submission date for EdTPA, so I wanted to share what I found out last week.
If you submit by November 24th you will get your results back by December 17th. The next date as a submission deadline is December 10, which means you would not get your results back until December 31st. While you would be able to graduate in December without a test score, this might create an issue applying for your licensure in January/ February. If you do not submit by the November 24th deadline, you would get results back no earlier than December 31st. This would leave little to no time to redo any portions of the edTPA if you get a “redo” on a section or if you need to redo the test as you will only have a couple of weeks in January in the class after winter break.
It sounds like it would be best to push forward and submit by the November 24th deadline. Please let Allie or I know if you have questions or if we can help in anyway.
Thinking of all of you!

Career Fair

Be sure to put November 29th on your calendar for the Fall Teacher Career Fair.

Currently there are building principals and recruiters signed up from 31 school districts from WI, other states, and China attending the fair. This is a wonderful way to connect with school districts. There is also a Pre-Fair District Panel where administrators and recruiters from several districts will talk about their districts and hiring practices.

UW-Madison Fall K-12 Recruitment Fair

Tuesday, November 29th

2:00pm-2:45pm     Pre-Fair K-12 Expert Panel in Marquee Theater, Union South
3:00pm-7:00pm     Fall Fair in Union South, Varsity Hall (2nd Floor)

Students can come and go during the fair, but we suggest to arrive by 6 p.m.

Districts are still registering for the fair, but they are very excited to speak to UW-Madison students! They know that students may be currently student teaching or student teaching next semester. Anyone hoping to teach during the 2017-2018 school year should be there! A number of districts will also be recruiting for spring regular and substitute positions.
